Theatre & Ballet at The Little Arts Academy Programme
Since 2010, the school has embarked on this Ballet & Theatre at The Little Arts Academy Programme. This programme is carried out in collaboration with the Little Arts Academy. This is a continuation of last year's programme in Theatre and Ballet for new students as well as returning students under FAS. This is a 3 months exposure programme for pupils who are under the Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) in our school.
"Alice in Wonderland"
This year, the pupils will use Alice in Wonderland as the theme for explorations in both Ballet as well as Theatre. Pupils will take on roles, act out characters based on this well-loved tale by Lewis Carroll and adapt parts of the script to a local context. There will be a performance at the end of the term in The Little Arts Academy and this performance will serve as practice for the actual performance during the Singapore Arts Festival’s Kids Arts Village, from 27 – 29 May 2011 (Fri – Sun), 3pm to 4pm at the Esplanade.
Learning Objectives
* To expose students to theatre and ballet and encourage them to develop an appreciation of literature
through the lessons
* To help the children build basic life skills, like self-confidence and oral presentation skills.
* To help children discover their natural talents, interests and skills in these art forms.
* To develop talents discovered through this programme that could lead towards further training in a more
long-termed programme.
