World’s Longest Hand-painted Batik
21 July 2010
Interview with Mr Kelly Tan and ex-pupil Mr Ryan Chua
Interview questions for Mr Kelly Tan:
|
1) It has been a good five years at least that Seagate has collaborated and sponsored Mayflower Primary
School in doing up the many learning corners around the school. This has certainly benefited the pupils in
many ways all these years. What then are your thoughts for this World’s Longest Hand-painted Batik event
today?
* It is a pleasure for Seagate to be able to support and join Mayflower Primary School in painting the World’s
Longest Hand-painted Batik. It is not every day that we get to be in this collaborative effort. It is really enriching for Seagate to be part of this meaningful milestone of Mayflower Primary School.
2) Moving forward, what will be the future plans for Seagate in this collaborative partnership?
* Seagate will continue to partner Mayflower Primary School so long as she continues to benefit her pupils in
the long run.
* We will continue to support Mayflower Primary School’s proposals for future projects so long as they are aligned
to the Seagate goals and the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) programme. The
interactive wall mural is the next collaborative effort in the pipeline.
* The staff from Seagate volunteers to come to Mayflower Primary to mentor the children in their projects.
Everyone enjoys the experience here.

Response from Mr Ryan Chua:
* I am an ex-pupil of Mayflower Primary School.
* I graduated in the early 90’s.
* Coming back to my alma mater gives me a nostalgic feeling. It brings back a lot of fond memories.
* I am grateful to Mayflower for the good educational grounding that has shaped me to be what I am today. I would
not have gone this far if not for Mayflower Primary.
* I feel that the pupils of Mayflower Primary today, are really fortunate to be able to participate in this meaningful ‘out-
of-classroom’ activity which makes learning more fun.
Science Detectives

everyday phenomena.
