Since 1998, our school’s Malay Dancers have achieved 6 gold awards and a silver award in the bi-annual Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) dance competition。 Pupils were given the honour of performing in the SYF main nights such as “Wings To Soar” in 2004 and “Reaching Beyond”, an interesting dance tapestry in 2006. Prior to this, our pupils were also selected to perform at the fringe performances at the Jurong Bird Park, the Kebun Baru Community Centre, the La Salle Dance Convention, Mendaki Prize Presentation Ceremony and many other performances for the school.
In order to nurture our Malay Dancers passion in the Malay Dance form, we have brought them to view cultural shows at the NUS and the Victoria Theatre. Besides this, we also aspire to develop our pupils holistically through a multitude of experiences which help build strength in their character as well as to allow them to discover new ways to express their personalities and build their confidence.
The Malay Dance group hopes to increase its profile in the coming years.
