Civics and Moral Education - Learning Outcomes Minimize

Civics and Moral Education focuses on developing the moral well-being of our pupils by helping them acquire and live by values that guide them to make appropriate choices and determine their behavior and attitudes towards themselves, others and the environment. Topics based on the six core values, namely Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Care, Resilience and Harmony are taught. Social and Emotional Competencies, concepts and attitudes related to these core values eg. adaptability, entrepreneurship and creativity are also taught to reinforce and substantiate pupils’ understanding of the six core values. These values will guide pupils to discern between right and wrong, and will help them to not only make responsible choices, but also become more aware of their roles at home, in school, the community, the nation and the world. Apart from the formal teaching of CME, school-wide programmes such as Co-Curricular Activities (CCA), Community Involvement Programmes and classroom leadership roles provide pupils with opportunities to internalise the values taught and translate them into action.

At the end of the CME programme, pupils should be able to:

-          put good values into practice

-          be responsible in their actions

-          cultivate good communication and social skills

-          develop good habits as a result of consistently doing what is right and good

-          promote harmony and social cohesion in a multiracial and multi-religious society
