At the end of 6 years, all our pupils should be able to use Chinese to express themselves. We hope to achieve our aim through the 4 language skills of Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing.
(1) Speaking
Pupils will be able to
* maintain a simple conversation with friends, classmates, teachers and parents in Chinese
* use Chinese in a spontaneous way to communicate opinions and views.
* communicate confidently and effectively in Chinese in everyday situations and for functional purposes, such as
such as giving directions, information or instructions and making requests .
(2) Listening
Pupils will be able to
* listen for information and enjoyment, and respond appropriately
* listen to and answer basic questions about something that has been read
* understand simple instructions in the classroom
* understand the reading of a simple paragraph from a short article or story.
(3) Reading
Pupils will be able to
* read simple texts
* read newspaper and magazine announcements of events, sales, and be able to understand the message
* read descriptive texts, chronological narrations, and dialogues
* read simple poems from Tang & Song Dynasty
* read variety of books, ranging from folk legends, fables to novels
(4) Writing
Pupils will be able to
* recognize and write chinese characters independently
* write neatly at all time
* compose a paragraph with structure and meaning.
* write picture and guided compositions
