Department Programmes Minimize
The Malay Language Department organizes various activities and programmes for pupils throughout the year in an attempt to improve their mastery of the language and to expose students to the different mediums of enjoying the Malay Language. Our pupils are taught to embrace and preserve the beauty of the Malay Language and Culture through the programmes organized.
 
Language Week

The Malay department collaborated with the Mother Tongue Department to organize a week long pf fun-filled cultural activities each year. The department aims to instil in pupils the sense love for culture that entails in the learning of Malay Language.  These activities help to inspire and motivate interest towards the Malay language apart from discovering their talents and skills.  The activities include:

    * Workshop on book appreciation
    * Library activities - Amazing Race
    * Literary Competition :P1  (Poetry Recitation)
    * P2  (Book Characterization)     
    * P3  (Story Telling)
    * P4  (Story telling & Dramatization)  
    * P5  (
Advertisement)
    * P6  (Oratorical)
    * Various Station Centred Activities for all P4s Chinese, Malay and Tamil Pupils were organized to inter-cultural appreciation.             

 
Cultural Trips

The Malay Programme includes cultural trips to provide opportunities pupils to experience the Malay Culture by exposing them to the various traditions of the kampong people, their vast cultural and historical heritage. The Malacca trip organized fulfill this objective.  

Workshop


Confidence workshop- “Tampil Yakin” has been organised in Term 2 for P2 and P3 pupils to be confident and expressive when presenting “Show and Tell”.


IT Integration

Interesting IT lessons and strategies are used to excite pupils' interests and to sustain them. Movie clips, IT based and E learning lessons were all used to arouse pupils' interest. ICT is infused in daily teaching to share literary writes illustrate their opinions and articulate their needs and concerns.   

Buddy Support Reading

A weekly reading programme conducted aims to stretch pupils, identify and subsequently help the weaker pupils improve their skills in reading. This programme also actively involves our dedicated parent volunteers who provide the scaffolding. It also improves reading and enhances pupils confidence in reading which indirectly uplift their morale and self esteem.  

SEED Programme

Our SEED Initiatives engage our pupils in physical activities and experiential learning to further enhance their learning cognition. Pupils participate through hands-on activities where language is learnt the fun way. Exploration and better understanding through some basic skills are the main strategies in SEED.
 
Parents Teachers Conference

Parents of P1-P6 Malay pupils constantly meet every year. The main objective of the meeting is to improve the cooperation and in particular the dialogue between teachers and parents in order to enhance the educational achievement of their child.
