Indian Dance
Our Indian Dance programme cultivates and nurtures a pool of talented dancers, preparing them for both internal and external performances. Through our training, students develop essential dance techniques while gaining valuable opportunities to perform at school events. Committed to excellence, our dancers embody confidence, resilience, and perseverance, growing into self-directed leaders who give their best in all that they do.
Singapore Youth Festival
The Indian Dance CCA proudly participated in the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) in April 2024. With dedication and passion, the dancers performed to the vibrant and energetic song Ponni Nadhi. This song, featured in the Tamil historical film Ponniyin Selvan, celebrates the grandeur of the Ponni River (also known as the Kaveri River) and its significance in Tamil heritage. Its upbeat rhythm and rich cultural essence made it a compelling choice for the performance.
Through months of rigorous practice, the dancers honed their skills, mastering intricate choreography and graceful expressions to bring the song’s story to life. Their hard work and commitment were recognised with an Accomplishment award, a testament to their perseverance and teamwork.
Beyond the accolades, this experience greatly enriched the students. It fostered a deeper appreciation for Indian classical and folk dance, strengthened their confidence on stage, and instilled values of discipline and resilience. Performing as a team also nurtured camaraderie and a sense of unity, empowering the dancers with skills that extend beyond the stage.

National Day Celebration @ MFPS
As part of this year’s National Day celebration, our Indian Dance members had the unique opportunity to collaborate with other dance CCAs and the Choir, creating a truly memorable performance. In this special collaboration, our dancers performed to Munneru Vaalibaa, an uplifting Tamil song that embodies the spirit of determination and progress.
This collaboration was particularly meaningful as it showcased the unity and diversity of our school’s performing arts groups. By blending different dance styles with live singing, the performance highlighted the beauty of cultural harmony and teamwork. The dancers and singers came together with enthusiasm, embracing the National Day theme of togetherness and resilience. Their dedication and passion were evident, making this performance a heartwarming tribute to Singapore’s rich multicultural heritage.

Deepavali Celebration @ MFPS
During the Deepavali celebration in school, our Indian Dance members mesmerized the audience by showcasing their SYF dance performance. Their graceful movements and vibrant expressions added richness and energy to the joyous occasion. The performance was well-received, earning numerous compliments from both students and staff, making the celebration even more memorable.
